ACSO auctioning items online

PALESTINE — Old squad cars and items seized by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office are among the items featured in an online auction which continues into early next week.

Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor told the Herald-Press Wednesday that seven cars and a zero-turn lawnmower are among the county items currently available for bid at http://www.swicoauctions.com/

To view the items, go to the website’s home page and access the link labeled “Anderson County Surplus.”

The Anderson County items for bid were either property of or seized by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office or the Anderson County Drug Investigation Unit, according to the sheriff.

The items include: a 1995 Lincoln Town Car; a 1997 Ford Taurus; a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria; a 1998 Ford Expedition; a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria; a 2000 Toyota Camry; a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria; and a JAZEE zero turn lawnmower.

Information about each vehicle’s condition and photographs are available for viewing on the website.

“It gives details on the website,” Taylor explained. “You can find out each item’s condition and what’s wrong with them.”

Persons visiting the website are also able to view the current high bid on each item.

“It shows the high bid,” Taylor stated, “so you know what you have to beat.”

Anderson County will benefit from the proceeds of the auctioned items, the sheriff continued.

Bidding on the items continues until Tuesday.
