PALESTINE —
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Anderson County will hold a “Shopping for a Cure” event on Friday, Dec. 7 at the Palestine Civic Center.
“We hope to be a one-stop shop for Christmas shopping while also raising awareness for cancer research,” Relay for Life Shopping for a Cure event coordinator Jennifer Snyder said. “We will have small businesses from the community and craft vendors selling unique items.”
The event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at the civic center, located at 1819 W. Spring St.
“So far we have about 12 to 14 vendors but have plenty of room to add more,” Snyder said.
Items for sale will include Scentsy products, throws, crosses, handmade milk soaps, totes, purses, jewelry, baby and children’s items such as tutus and bibs, candles, wreaths, hand lotion, gourmet foods, dips and soup mixes and more. One vendor will offer eyebrow waxing.
By offering a shopping event in the evening after the normal business hours, Snyder said she hopes men and women will take advantage of the opportunity.
“For women, we like to shop, so this will be really fun,” Snyder said. “For men, it’s somewhere they can go after they get off work to find something really neat for their wives for Christmas all at one place.”
At the same time, the event supports small businesses.
“Most of the items are homemade and we want to support small businesses because they are the backbone of everything,” Snyder said. “We wanted this to be a way for the community to get involved.
Booth spaces are $15 each and checks should be made out to Relay for Life. Deadline to reserve booth space is Monday, Dec. 3.
“One-hundred percent of the booth space fee will be donated to Relay for Life,” Snyder said.
A concession stand will be open during the event.
