PALESTINE —
Local police have released the identity of a Palestine man killed Friday afternoon on Old Elkhart Road when his motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer pulling out of a local business.
Michael Keith Hall, 50, of Palestine was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck which occurred around 12:40 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of Old Elkhart Road, according to Palestine police.
Palestine Police Sgt. James Muniz said Hall was traveling north on a motorcycle on Old Elkhart Road when he apparently passed a mini-van stopped in front of him “at a pretty good rate of speed” and struck the back of a tractor-trailer pulling out of Brookshire’s parking lot and attempting to turn south on the same roadway.
“The motorcycle came around the mini-van (also traveling northbound) according to the initial investigation,” Muniz stated.
Hall was pronounced dead at the scene by Anderson County Justice of the Peace Gary Thomas, according to the sergeant.
An autopsy was ordered to be performed on Hall’s body at the Southeast Texas Forensic Science Center in Tyler.
No other persons were injured in the wreck, according to police.
