ACSO continues investigation of weekend burglaries

PALESTINE — Anderson County sheriff’s authorities are investigating a pair of weekend burglaries occurring in separate parts of the county.

Both offenses — one occurring on U.S. 287 just south of the Palestine city limits and the other on FM 19 between Frankston and Neches — were reported to authorities Saturday, according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.

Shortly before 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Anderson County sheriff’s deputy Charles Conner responded to a residence in the 900 block of FM 19 concerning multiple items reportedly being stolen from “an open garage,” according to the sheriff.

Items reportedly stolen during that offense included a gasoline-powered air compressor valued at $850; a Minkota pontoon trolling motor valued at $650; and a B&D electric air compressor valued at $150, according to Taylor.

Later in the day at 3:30 p.m., Taylor said Anderson County sheriff’s deputy Jamie Lester responded to a burglary occurring at Stor-Mor Storage in the 4300 block of U.S. 287 South, south of the Palestine city limits.

That break-in reportedly occurred sometime between Thursday and Saturday afternoon, the sheriff added.

The culprit or culprits cut the lock off the storage building to gain access,  according to authorities.

Items reportedly stolen during the storage building burglary included miscellaneous tools valued at $175; a chainsaw valued at $120; reloading supplies valued at $100; an angle  grinder valued at $65; and a turkey fryer and pot valued at $50, according to the sheriff.

Taylor said anyone providing information leading to the arrest  of a suspect in either case will be eligible to receive a reward of up to $1,000 from Anderson County Crimestoppers.

Crimestoppers may be contacted  by calling 903-729-TIPS (8477).

“We certainly would appreciate the public’s help if they saw anything or know anything,” Taylor said.

The sheriff said some offenses see a spike during the hotter months.

“The summertime always brings a few more thefts and burglaries,” Taylor said. “Summertime  tends to bring an increase in thefts and assaults.”
