PALESTINE —
Anderson County sheriff’s authorities have arrested a second suspect in connection with a residential burglary last month on FM 323.
Cory Lavon Bailey, 26, of Palestine was arrested without incident around 6:45 p.m. Saturday by Anderson County sheriff’s deputy Herman Linam, according to Troy Black, chief deputy for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Bailey becomes the second person arrested in connection with a burglary occurring on Sept. 27 at a residence in the 1700 block of FM 323 during which a Sony PlayStation and two video games were reportedly stolen.
Last Wednesday, Anderson County sheriff’s deputies arrested Ray Charles McQueen Jr., 18, of Palestine in conjunction with the burglary while he was performing community service at the Anderson County Livestock Riding & Roping Area.
“We got some information that he (McQueen) wasn’t alone,” Black said.
Further investigation identified Bailey as a suspect and a warrant was ultimately obtained for his arrest on the charge of burglary of a habitation.
As of late Monday afternoon, Bailey remained in the Anderson County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 bond, according to records.
Records indicated McQueen also remained in the local jail.
In addition to the burglary of a habitation charge, McQueen was additionally charged with resisting arrest and evading arrest or detention after he attempted to flee from authorities on foot.
The stolen property was recovered at a local business, according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.
