PALESTINE —
A 58-year-old California man was killed Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle south of Palestine on U.S. 79.
Jose Monroy, 58, of California was standing in the northbound lane of U.S. 79, south of Palestine, when he was hit by a Nissan Armada SUV operated by a Palestine woman shortly before 9:50 p.m. Saturday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Monroy was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
