PALESTINE —
A routine traffic stop by Palestine Police Department officers led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Palestine man for drug possession and having an invalid license.
Just after 9 p.m. on Monday, a Palestine police officer stopped a 1998 Chevy Tahoe for speeding in the 1200 block of Crockett Road. The driver of the Chevy was identified as Heriberto Limon Jr. of Palestine.
“During the stop it was determined that Limon was driving with an invalid license,” PPD Sgt. James Muniz said. “Limon was arrested and a subsequent inventory was conducted of his vehicle
According to Muniz, officers could smell the odor of burned marijuana in the vehicle and sought evidence of that during the search.
“Officers were able to locate marijuana as well as methamphetamine inside the Chevy Tahoe,” he said.
Limon was transported to the Anderson County Jail where he was booked in on charges of driving while license invalid, possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substance.
As of Wednesday, Limon remained in the Anderson County Jail on bonds totaling $17,250.
