PALESTINE —
The Palestine Police Department is investigating a series of thefts from the Union Pacific rail yard.
Due to four incidents taking place over the past month, the department has been working with officials from Union Pacific and members of the Union Pacific Railroad Police Division.
On more than one occasion, suspects entered onto railroad property and took copper welding leads and other copper wire. On another occasion, suspects took two welding machines. The investigation into the theft of the welding machines is still under investigation.
On Friday, police served an arrest warrant for Latimer Baker in reference to his involvement in the theft and sale of railroad property. Baker is being held in the Anderson County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Police arrested Roshaunda Brown on Jan. 8 for her involvement in the copper thefts. Brown is being held in the Anderson County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Police are still looking for Justin Ellis, who also is wanted for his involvement in the theft of copper from Union Pacific rail yard.
Due to the ongoing investigation, the police are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of Ellis to call the Palestine Police Department at 903-729-2254 or Crime Stoppers at 903-729-TIPS (8477).
