Former East Texas Farm & Ranch columnist Larry Wright will talk about his new book, “Longhorn Tales: Stories of Ranching in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas,” at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Palestine Public Library.
“Wright has ranched in Colorado, New Mexico and East Texas. The incidents recounted in these stories are true accounts of events he experienced on a daily basis,” a library news release said. “His love of the land, the horses he owned and his family and friends are an important part of each story.
“Together with his wife, Virginia and his two daughters, Myka and Jamie, they have experienced the joys, hardships and responsibilities of ranch life. This book was written to share those experiences with the reader.”
Born in Texarkana, Ark., Wright graduated from St. Edwards High School in Texarkana. He also graduated in the first four-year graduating class at Arlington State College, now the University of Texas at Arlington. He received his J.D. from the University of Denver Law School.
Encouraged by his friends to continue to write, he decided to write this book, which will be available for signing by the author after the book talk.
The library is located in the Palestine Mall at 2000 S. Loop 256.
For more information about the book talk, visit www.youseemore.com/palestine or call Ana Sanchez at the library at 903-729-4121 ext. 8609. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
