Burn ban decision to be made Thursday
Anderson County commissioners are scheduled to conduct an emergency meeting Thursday morning to consider instituting a countywide burn ban.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in the County Courtroom of the Anderson County Courthouse Annex.
There are no other items on Thursday’s emergency agenda.
The City of Palestine has received just under 13 inches of rain this year and only 1.12 inches since May 1.
Currently, no East Texas counties north of Anderson County are under a burn ban, according to the Texas Forest Service’s Web site.
Most counties, however, south of Anderson County are presently under bans.
Nearby counties currently under a ban include Limestone, Leon, Houston, Trinity and Madison.
