PALESTINE —
A 31-year-old Palestine woman was arrested on a pair of charges Friday after authorities say they found methamphetamine and two counterfeit $100 bills during the execution of a search warrant at her Westwood residence.
Carrie Elizabeth Clark, 31, of Palestine was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance between 1-to-4 grams and forgery of a government instrument Friday following a search of her residence in the 2300 block of Cedarview, according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.
Around 2:40 p.m. Friday, the sheriff said Sgt. Brian Chason and investigators Ryan Tolliver and Lee Duren went to the woman’s residence in an effort to locate a wanted male subject who is known to frequent the location.
Clark, who lives at the residence, answered the door and “allowed them (the officers) to search for the wanted subject,” according to Taylor.
Upon entering the master bedroom, officers “smelled marijuana and saw a blunt laying in open sight in an ashtray near the bed,” the sheriff stated.
A blunt is a cigar where the tobacco has been replaced with marijuana.
A syringe also was observed on the floor, according to Taylor.
Officers then “backed out” of the residence and obtained a narcotics search warrant signed by 369th State District Judge Bascom W. Bentley III.
During execution of the search warrant, officers additionally discovered 2 grams of methamphetamine “in a loaded syringe” and “several little baggies with residue of methamphetamine” inside the residence, according to the sheriff.
Authorities also located numerous materials commonly used in the packaging of illegal narcotics; three digital scales; a glass smoking pipe; and “two counterfeit $100 bills,” Taylor said.
As of late Monday morning, Clark remained in the Anderson County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $275,000 set by Anderson County Justice of the Peace Carl Davis.
