Day spa now offering Zumba, boot camps

PALESTINE — In addition to the many spa and weight-loss treatments offered at Jamie's Therapeutic Touch day spa, owner Jamie Pettiette-Rhone has expanded her offerings to include boot camps, personal training and the popular Zumba classes.

Leading those classes/sessions are certified personal trainer Anthony Garcia and certified Zumba instructor Andrea Ivins.

A native of Los Angeles, Garcia graduated with full massage certification from the Glendale School of Massage in California. He has a background in sports massage, care/prevention of athletic injuries and strength and conditioning training

Garcia is a certified personal trainer with work experience in Major League Soccer, USC of Los Angeles, Disney Resorts of Anaheim, Calif. and more.

Ivins knew that she had found her passion for Zumba after taking her first class, and soon after became a certified instructor for the Latin-inspired dance fitness program.

She now has advanced certification in Zumba Basic II, Aqua Zumba, Zumba Toning and Zumba Sentao (fitness with a chair).

Zumba and Aqua Zumba sessions begin Monday, Sept. 17 at Hampton Inn in Palestine. Aqua Zumba is held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, with Zumba Basic held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Cost is $20 a month for four sessions of Zumba or four sessions of Aqua Zumba or $35 for both. Participants must pre-pay at Jamie's.

Boot camps, with Ivins and Garcia begin on Saturday, Sept. 22 and continue weekly on Saturdays. The cost is  $40 a month.

Personal training sessions with Garcia are $35 an hour.
