I am writing this letter to warn the citizens of Anderson County against unlicensed and non-bonded contractors. My daughter had insurance work which totaled nearly $10,000 for work resulting in damages from high winds. After numerous phone calls and references, a local contractor began work on her home. After very shoddy work, short cuts to complete the work and taking one half of the insurance money up front; she and I were left to find another contractor to complete over half the job with less than half the money left and repairs to be made on the original work. My suggestion is to make sure that when contracting work in Anderson County and surrounding areas, make sure that all workers and owners are bonded, insured and licensed. Otherwise you will be facing the same situation that she did and I did when I stepped in to help. At this time she had to complete the job with money out of her own pocket, because the contractor would not stand behind his work or his word. When getting estimates and repair work make sure that the contractor and all workers are bonded and insured as well as are willing to complete the contracted job.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a letter submitted to the Herald-Press by Dan Bochsler:
To be “fit for its future,” a successful city embraces and moves forward with changes. Recently, several positive votes for change occurred in Palestine. Like in life, nothing ever stops changing, and things do “happen for a reason.” - Palestine lucky to have Dr. Puvvada
