$10,000 worth of property stolen
Authorities are investigating a residential burglary southwest of Elkhart during which approximately $10,000 worth of property was reportedly stolen.
Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor said the burglary occurred at “a weekend home” on CR 118, southwest of Elkhart, owned by a Spring resident.
The burglary was reported by the complainant shortly after 11 p.m. last Wednesday, according to the sheriff.
“He observed the front door of the residence ajar and the front, left bay door of the garage was bent inward,” Taylor said. “He entered the residence and observed the interior was ransacked. Every drawer and cabinet was open...and the garage had also been ransacked.”
Among the items reported missing were a 1999 Suzuki Quad King ATV; a welding machine; an air compressor; many assorted tools; multiple televisions; and multiple computers, according to Taylor.
Food and cleaning supplies also were taken, the sheriff stated.
“Some evidence was taken from the scene by deputy (Gabe) Wallace,” Taylor said.
The homeowner is in the process of compiling a complete list of stolen items, he added.
“We do have in our evidence a game camera which captured a dark-colored vehicle parked behind the house on Oct. 22,” Taylor said. “We'll further analyze that video evidence and hopefully develop a suspect.”
Anyone providing information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the case will be eligible to receive a reward of up to $1,000 from Anderson County Crimestoppers.
