ROUND ROCK — Slocum’s Logan Foster heads home with a medal in his final cross country race of his high school career.
The Slocum senior took the bronze medal Saturday afternoon, getting third place in the Class A state cross country meet at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
“It feels good to finish third,” Foster said. “I wanted to win it, but I am proud of how I did.”
Foster has raced in the state cross country meet at four years of high school and this was his best finish and the third straight year he has finished in the top 10 at the state meet.
“Logan did a great job today,” Slocum cross country coach David Ives said. “He had an exceptional career and to medal the last three years is quite an accomplishment.”
Foster took third place with a time of 16-minutes, 59.78 seconds. The time was just over 29 seconds behind the state champion Travis Roberts of Sanderson and 13 seconds behind the second-place finisher Jonathan Lira of Plains.
Foster finished in the top three by edging out Plain’s Jaxon Bean by less than a second.
