PALESTINE — Palestine High School senior Ashley Conner topped 11 other contestants to win the title of 2010 Dogwood Queen Thursday night at the Palestine Civic Center.
First runnerup was Elkhart High School senior Kaitlyn Stanaland.
Conner, who ranks sixth academically in her class at PHS, performed a clarinet solo during the talent portion of the competition. She will receive a $2,000 scholarship as part of reigning as queen over the course of the next year.
Conner, who plans to attend Tyler Junior College in the fall, was crowned by 2009 Dogwood Queen Karson Salmon.
She is the daughter of Tamra and Johnathan Conner.
